In The Forest

This is a copy I painted of a work by a Swedish artist, Anders Zorn. It is titled: In the Forest

Anders Zorn lived in the delightful little village of Mora, Sweden. We have a wonderful friend who keeps an apt.there. He graciously let us use his apt. Easter 08 for a little holiday. We really enjoyed our visit to Mora. The people were charming and friendly,& food was great. We loved visiting the Zorn museum, (http://www.zorn.se/engmain.html.) It is a short drive to another little town, Nusnas where they make the famous Dahl horses.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalecarlian_horse.) There are several wookshops in town where thousands of wooden horses wait to be handpainted. The horses are handcarved by local people and sold to one of several workshops in the village. The village itself is on a flat plane next to lake Mora. It is hauntingly beautiful, a collection of wooden homes spaced a good distance apart like farm buildings. At Easter it was still cold, the earth was still frozen, with a light blanket of snow.
